By integrating the principles of conventional and complementary medicine our team of physicians are able to take a broader view – lifestyle, nutrition, emotions, behaviour patterns, and beliefs are all taken into account in your healing plan. Health and Wellness is more than simply the absence of pain, it's prevention and Prevention Is Better Than Cure
Bone Setting therapy is used by all of our Orthopaedics specialists in the treatment of strains, and aches, menstrual pain, migraines, headaches and conditions related to dizziness such as vertigo or hormonal imbalances. It is a widely effective treatment for helping chronic pain and works well in combination with sports therapy treatments and acupuncture. Our practitioners also manipulate the joints to give physical pain relief to patients to treat various physical or mental conditions including trapped or pinched nerves osteoparosis, artheritis, slipped and herniated discs, pinched nerves and fibromyalgia.
Bone setting refers to the manipulation or “setting” of fractured bones, ruptured sinews and muscles in order to alleviate an injury. We use this holistic care process to cure the balance of the skeleton, muscles, and joints, which might cause pain. Our professionals have rigorous educational backgrounds that are used to provide patients at our clinic that promote healing and living a pain-free life.
Pain Clinic’s orthopaedic practitioners understand that when resetting the body’s structural frame, the internal organs function as they should and pressure that causes pain is relieved from the body which in turn relieves physical pain for our patients. Our Pain Clinic philosophy is an emphasis on whole-person health and healing meaning we treat you from the inside out.
OSTEOMYOLOGY
Our Osteomyologists are trained and certified to use a high standard of manual procedures to treat both the bone (Osteo) and the muscle (Myo) in your body. Our philosophy as Osteomyologists moves away from the rigid, tunnel vision approach to treating conditions. This modern and advanced technique is based on aggregated ideas from all manipulation therapies, primarily chiropractic and osteopathy with Osteomyology fast becoming more of an indispensable part of the integrated medical service. This is because Osteomyology enables a multi-disciplined treatment approach with more ‘tools’ at the disposal of your physician, meaning we have more effective strategies to treat your conditions and the underlying causes of disease.
Pain Clinic practitioners create treatments catered directly to your own individual needs with the aim of treating both the symptoms and the root cause of your condition. Our Osteomyologists believe in treating the body as a whole by alleviating symptoms and preventing reoccurrence whenever possible.
With our wide range of collective skills, Osteomyology at Pain Clinic is the perfect treatment for you. We will encourage your body back on to a path of wellness with your own bespoke plan and provide you with an alternative, multi-faceted approach to rehabilitation that adapts techniques to your own unique conditions and circumstances.
**We recommend ongoing treatments to all of our patients to maintain optimal health in line with our philosophy that prevention is better than cure.
Acupuncture is a Traditional Chinese Medicine treatment that balances the chi and energy in our bodies and is highly effective for aiding in chronic pain and the prevention of numerous illnesses. Traditional Chinese acupuncture treats conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, IBS, allergies, psoriasis, infertility, eye, ear, nose, throat disorders, circulatory disorders including coronary artery disease, heart failure, stroke, cardiomyopathy, hypertension, gastrointestinal disorders such as constipation, irritable bowel syndrome and hemorrhoids, gynecological/genitourinary disorders and emotional disorders such as depression and anxiety.
DRY NEEDLING ACUPUNCTURE
Dry Needling Acupuncture or sometimes referred to as IMS (Intramuscular Stimulation) is a type of acupuncture designed to provide deep relief from muscular pain and stiffness, increase flexibility and range of motion in joints. This treatment method assists in the quick repair of sports injuries, muscle pain, and conditions such as fibromyalgia. If you are experiencing joint problems, disc problems, tendinitis, arthritis, migraines or tension headaches, whiplash, spinal problems, pelvic pain, night cramps or post-herpetic neuralgia then this treatment program is for you. Dry Needling is performed by our Pain Clinic therapists who use evidence-based guidelines to treat your body directly from the pain-site by inserting often rapid and repetitive needles into the myofascial trigger points/muscles to encourage a contraction and promote several reflex analgesic mechanisms via the spinal cord and the brain.
These responses then alleviate your symptoms following successful chronic pain treatment and thus encourages blood-flow and repair to the injured areas by reducing tension and dispersing knotted areas for you. The acupuncture needles may be placed deeply or superficially, for shorter or longer periods of time, depending on what type of pain is being treated and how long it has lasted. Shorter periods of time would mean that the needle would stay in the muscle for seconds, while longer periods could mean 10 to 15 minutes.
You may experience some slight discomfort from this treatment but the overall impact of dry needling is hugely beneficial and recommended to those experiencing all types of pain. Patients looking for a better range of movement or even athletes who need to improve blood flow for the purpose of muscle building or better performance in their field will benefit from dry needling acupuncture.
ELECTRO-ACUPUNCTURE
Electro-acupuncture is a form of acupuncture where a small electric current is passed between pairs of acupuncture needles. It is not a painful treatment but does stimulate muscle repair therefore our patients may experience some tingling and muscle cramping during the treatment. Our trained acupuncture therapists understand that electro-acupuncture practice augments the use of regular acupuncture and is most effective in restoring health and well-being and is particularly good for treating both acute and chronic pain conditions.

Naturopathic medicine is a form of medicine that treats the individual as a whole; mind, body and spirit. It aims to heal the root cause of the issue by examining your lifestyle habits, stress levels and health history.
The goal is to treat underlying disorders and restore normal body functions by enhancing the body's ability to heal itself naturally. Pain Clinic uses treatments and prevention methods using natural therapies including botanical medicine, clinical nutrition, hydrotherapy, homeopathy, naturopathic manipulation, traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture, lifestyle counseling, health promotion, and disease prevention. We help patients that have a number of symptoms and provide treatments that are effective for improving their over-all health and quality of life.

Gut health has a huge impact on whole-body health and while it can vigorously boost your immune system, if compromised it can also have a very detrimental effect on your health. Gut health contributes to heart health, brain health, improved mood, healthy sleep, and effective digestion because these are all linked by the nerves which relate to the balance of bacteria in the gut microbiome which are also responsible for affecting your emotions and the way your brain processes information from your senses.
Anger, anxiety, sadness, elation — all of these feelings can trigger symptoms in the gut. Therefore, a person's stomach or intestinal distress can be the cause or the product of anxiety, stress, or depression. That's because the brain and the gastrointestinal system are intimately connected. By taking care of your gut you can encourage brain health and mental ability but also treat physical diseases such as cancer and autoimmune disorders.
It is important to take good care of your gut and your stomach lining because a damaged stomach lining allows harmful microbes to attack your stomach and intestinal tissue, leading to illness. The good news is that you can repair your stomach lining and reinvigorate your digestive health at Pain Clinic International where our practitioners are equipped to transform your life whether you’re suffering from gastroesophageal reflux disease, gallstones, celiac disease, ulcerative colitis, irritable bowel syndrome, chronic constipation or even Chrone’s disease.
COLONIC HYDROTHERAPY
Colon cleansing, also known as colonic irrigation or colonic hydrotherapy, involves flushing the colon with fluids to remove waste. It’s a practice that has been practiced since ancient times with benefits that are based on the premise that digestive waste can be a toxin to the body which causes illnesses such as cancers, obesity, IBS, ulcerative colitis, diverticulitis etc. Colon cleansing makes the digestive system more effective and promotes healthy bacteria to fight these types of infections. It also helps in maintaining regularity and is an aid in the prevention of digestive disorders such as constipation and bloating. This can lead to decreased energy and concentration levels and a lack of the body’s ability to absorb essential nutrients and vitamins.
Our Hydrotherapists are fully trained and educated to perform colonic irrigation. At Pain Clinic International we provide a safe and confidential environment for you both before and after your treatments. We make certain that only new, disposable equipment and protective gear is used. Both our male and female practitioners exercise extreme caution when conducting our treatments and our hygienists always use a proper disinfection routine and disposable equipment.
All hydrotherapy treatments are followed up with a diet plan and recommendations for other treatment programs that would be necessary to continue to have a healthy colon. Colon hydrotherapy helps kick start your weight loss program, assists in detox and can help with fertility.
VISCERAL MANIPULATIONS
Visceral manipulation is a gentle way to improve the functioning of individual organs, the systems the organs function within, and the structural integrity of the entire body. Our manual therapists use this technique to assist the body's organs (e.g. bladder, bowel, uterus, etc) and other structures, like muscles, fascia, ligaments, and joints to increase visceral mobility (how well your organs can contract and release as needed.) Visceral manipulation involves abdominal massage that combines pressing, deep strokes, and friction to strip away any adhesions you may have.
At Pain Clinic International we help restore the pliable, mobile state that helps your organs get the circulation, nutrients, and suppleness they need to function properly, which in turn will help to repair your gastro-intestinal tract and improve your overall health and wellness. Our physicians may recommend other treatments such as acupuncture or bone setting and will provide you with information on our vitamin and supplement range to balance your energy and promote tissue or injury repair.
Other health benefits of visceral manipulation include: reduced chronic muscle pain, less bloating and constipation, improvements with uterine fibroids and cysts, reduced joint pain, improved sciatica, relief from carpal tunnel, less trouble from “old” injuries, diminished symptoms of fibromyalgia and improved digestion

At Pain Clinic we offer various types of massage therapy from relaxing massage to sports injury repair massage. The most beneficial massage therapy treatment for you depends entirely on goals. Massage is used to treat muscle tension and relive tightness, as a way to reduce stress and anxiety and as a form of sports therapy to treat old muscle injuries.
REMEDIAL MASSAGE (RMT)
This is the systematic assessment and treatment of the muscles, tendons, ligaments, and connective tissues of the body to assist in rehabilitation and pain and injury management. All of our remedial therapists have up-to-date knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology which help to determine the areas in the body that need the most focus.
SPORTS THERAPY MASSAGE
Sports Therapy Massage helps to condition the muscles of athletes of all skill levels. Our trained health and wellness professionals identify the frequency and types of physical activities of our clients and then use the information to apply the proper massage techniques to various muscle groups.
LOMI LOMI
Lomi Lomi is a restorative Hawaiian massage that works gently, yet deeply into the muscles with continuous, flowing strokes. This allows the recipient to relax due to the hypnotic effect, bringing your mind to a place of absolute stillness. Touch, rhythm and ancient wisdom come together, allowing healing to occur.
LYMPHATIC MASSAGE
A lymphatic drainage massage is a form of gentle massage that encourages the movement of lymph fluids around the body. The fluid in the lymphatic system helps remove waste and toxins from bodily tissues. Since fluid can build-up in our bodies, our fully trained professionals use educated touch and light flowing movements to direct toxins to the appropriate organs. This aids the body in diminishing these toxins and encourages oxygen to your cells and is great in conjunction with detox.
DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE
Deep tissue massage techniques are used to break up scar tissue and physically break down muscle "knots" or adhesions (bands of painful, rigid tissue) that can disrupt circulation and cause pain, limited range of motion, and inflammation. If you have a pre-existing injury or are post-surgery, deep tissue massage is vital for your recovery. Our therapists encourage all patients to enjoy a deep tissue massage to relieve tension, disperse unwanted tissue and encourage blood flow.

Craniosacral therapy uses gentle touch to palpate the synarthrodial joints of the cranium. It is a type of practice designed to help cure a large number of health conditions.
At Pain Clinic International we use gentle holding of the sacral and gentle manipulations of the skull to improve the pressure and circulation of cerebrospinal fluid (the fluid that surrounds the brain and spinal cord). Sometimes our practitioners will also use this method to palpate parts of the pelvis and the spine to encourage the body’s own healing system through the head, neck, and nerves.
Everyday stress can cause tension to form around the brain and spinal cord causing restrictions in the body. These restrictions are released by using light touch techniques improving the flow and rhythm of the craniosacral system. By creating a balanced environment around the skull and the spinal cord, your body is able to correct itself. Craniosacral Therapy is able to alleviate a wide variety of dysfunctions, from chronic pain and sports injuries to stroke and neurological impairment. We recommend Craniosacral Therapy to patients who experience ADHD, anxiety, panic attacks, autism, brain and spinal cord trauma, central nervous system disorders, chronic (long-term) neck and back pain, dyslexia, and fascial pain.
CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY FOR CHILDREN
Due to its gentle nature, Craniosacral Therapy is a perfect technique for the younger generation, anything from newborns right through to adulthood. It’s a safe whole-spine therapy that can improve socialization and the health of children experiencing symptoms of ADD, ADHD, autism, and other related issues.
CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY FOR INFANTS AND NEWBORNS
At Pain Clinic International we provide a safe and engaging environment for infants and newborns where our practitioners use CST and light massage techniques to help ease the tightness in the baby’s mouth, head and neck. As a result, you will find greater success with breastfeeding and by structurally aligning the body, CST for infants and newborns promotes proper functioning in all of the systems leading to better eating, digestive, and sleeping habits.
At birth babies' skulls change to fit through the mother’s pelvis and in doing so the cranium bones can maneuver to accommodate the process of birth - this is referred to as compression or decompression. While a very normal process during natural birth and easily reversible, sometimes the newborn can be subjected to a harsher environment where they are pulled too harshly causing unnatural damages to occur to the bones. This can lead to a poor healing process and numerous problems post-birth including motor impairment, breathing problems, digestive concerns, colic syndrome, and more.
CST assists with minimizing pain, promoting growth, and reversing the effects of birth trauma for your baby by relieving built-up pressure and tension. It is also effective for infants born via c-section even though they do not experience the normal process of the cranial compression/decompression because infants’ skulls can constrict and become misshapen instead. After a series of CST sessions, you should expect an overall improvement in your infants health and behaviour.

Kinesiology tape works by lifting the skin from the tissues below it. When tape is applied, it causes compression or decompression of these areas, supposedly allowing it to alter pain signals to the brain. It involves placing strips of special tape on your body in specific directions to help improve your mobility and support your joints, muscles, and tendons.
Kinesiology tape is also thought to inhibit nociceptors, or pain pathways, in your muscles, skin, and joint structures. Decreasing painful input to the brain is thought to normalize muscle tone, resulting in decreased pain and muscular spasm.
In general, kinesiology tape helps to create balance in the neural circuitry in muscles, tendons, joints, and skin. This reduces pain, decreases swelling, and improves muscle performance and function.
This helps with facilitation, inhibition and pain management, support and stability, swelling management and scar tissue management.
